Privacy notice
Last updated 2026-10-18
Draft for the waitlist only. It is written in plain words and has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
This notice covers the waitlist on voicetakeover.com. It says what we keep when you join, why, and what you can do about it.
Who runs this
The person who runs Voice Takeover decides how your data is used (the “controller” in data-protection law). Contact: hello@voicetakeover.com.
What we collect
- Your email address.
- Whether you also ticked the optional box for news and offers, the exact wording of what you agreed to (the launch email only, or the launch email plus news and offers), the version of that wording, and the date and time you joined. If you sign up again, we also keep the date of your latest signup.
- Your country, worked out from your connection when you submit the form. We do not keep your IP address.
- A referral tag, only if the address you came from had one (for example
?ref=name), so we can tell which link brought you.
We do not store your IP address or browser details. The site has no analytics, no advertising trackers and no cookies of its own.
Giving us your email address is your choice. You do not have to; if you don’t, we simply can’t email you.
Why we use it
- To email you when Voice Takeover is ready. That is what pressing “Join the waitlist” asks for. You do not have to tick anything for it.
- Only if you ticked the optional box: to send you news and offers about Voice Takeover. The box is never ticked for you. If you leave it empty, we do not send you news and offers.
Our legal basis
For the emails, your consent: pressing “Join the waitlist” for the launch email, and ticking the box for news and offers. You can take it back at any time by writing to us; we then stop emailing you.
If you unsubscribe, we keep a small record (your email address and the date you unsubscribed) so that we do not email you again. We keep it because we have a legitimate interest in honouring your choice. You can object to that too (see below), but then we can no longer promise you won’t be added again by someone else typing your address.
Where it is stored and who else sees it
The list is stored in Cloudflare D1, a database run by Cloudflare, which is also our hosting provider. Cloudflare works for us as a “processor” under its Data Processing Addendum. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot check made by Cloudflare. To run that check, which usually works in the background without asking you to do anything, Cloudflare sees your connection details and some browser signals, under its own privacy policy.
Cloudflare is a US company and runs servers in many countries, so your data can be processed outside your own country, including outside the EU and the UK. Where that happens, the transfer relies on Cloudflare’s Data Processing Addendum, which includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK addendum to them).
We do not sell your data and we do not share the list with anyone else. We have not sent any emails yet. When we do, we will use an email service to send them, and we will update this notice before then.
How long we keep it
We keep your address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you unsubscribe, we keep only the small record described above until you ask us to delete that as well, or until we stop the product.
Joining again
If you sign up again with the same address, you are on the list again, even if you had unsubscribed before. Signing up again with the news and offers box ticked adds your consent to news and offers. Signing up again without ticking it does not take away a consent you gave earlier (if you had unsubscribed, only what you tick now counts); to stop news and offers, or all emails, write to us. We do not ask you to confirm by email first, so someone could type your address into the form without you knowing. If that happens, write to us and we will remove you.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data (in a common, machine-readable format), to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it, or to stop using it because of your particular situation (the right to object). You can withdraw your consent at any time. You can also complain to your data-protection authority. To use any of these rights, write to hello@voicetakeover.com from the address you signed up with.
Changes
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will change the date at the top and tell the people on the list.
